Self-catering residencies are available for creatives, artists and makers at Casa Almeda in April, May and June 2026. Casa Almeda is a charming, characterful villa built in the late 1800s. It has a beautiful garden with sweeping views over the forested valley to the Garrotxa moutains and the high Pyrenees in the far distance. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the birdsong — nightingales if you are lucky! The sunsets are spectacular. We invite you to carve time out of your busy schedule to devote yourself to your creative project or work-in-progress in this peaceful environment.
Take your pick of four spacious, high-ceilinged bedrooms, all with beautiful views of the garden or over the forested valley. Two bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and two bedrooms share a shower room. Each room comes equipped with table and chair to work at.
Downstairs, there is a huge living room with an open fire-place and a large dining room. The fully-equipped kitchen is a typical Catalan rural kitchen.
Mature gardens offer private, shaded spaces for work and play.
We encourage you to take every opportunity to develop relationships with other creative people at Casa Almeda, to exchange ideas, and to obtain and give supportive, constructive feedback. We beleive in fostering an atmosphere of mutual creative support and encouragement.
Composer Rory Pierce and author Priscilla Morris will regularly be available to offer one-to-one music composition and writing consultations at an additional fee. Please enquire about our consultations when you contact us.
Extensive forest trails, plus ancient menhirs and stone circles, are all within easy walking distance of Casa Almeda. Stunning Mediterranean beaches and Costa Brava clifftop walks are within 15-25 minutes’ drive.
Come and immerse yourself in the rhythms of slow living in rural Catalonia. Give yourself and your project time to breathe and grow in the forested La Selva landscape.

Please Note:
These residencies are open to most artists, creatives and makers. They are not suitable for wet artists or loud musicians, who require a sound-proof studio. If you would like to find out whether a Casa Almeda residency is right for you, please contact us and we will be glad to help.
English is the primary language of correspondence and communication. We absolutely welcome people of all nationalities who have conversational English.
The swimming pool is not available during the residencies.
Each of the spacious, high-ceilinged bedrooms has a table and chair. The retreats are self catering.
The price for a room/ workspace is €490 per week for single occupancy. €360 p/p per week for double occupancy - this is a good way to collaborate. Another more private way to collaborate is to book a room each for a residency.
Note, you can bring a ‘non-participating partner’ on a residency, and they are free to do their own thing while you work — around the house, the grounds and the wonderful local area. The extra fee for the non-participating partner is €300 per week.
Also note there is ample free parking at Casa Almeda.
